Happy Earth Day!!

I love that Earth Day is always in the Spring. Flowers and foliage begin to make their way out of the dirt and as we welcome sun and warmer air. The thought of going without socks and maybe leaving that jacket at home is very exciting. Not to mention all the white legs and newly sun-pinches cheeks on that first sunny weekend of the season.

A Part of the Family Now

As of yesterday, I am no longer a Cates girl. I am now a Tibbs girl. Traditionally, most gals change their last name within weeks of marrying their true love, but I didn't do that. Matt and I have been married almost five years and I am just not adopting his last name. Here are some interesting facts about the Tibbs name: * The Tibbs name is an important part of history in the Anglo-Saxon tribes of Britain * Tibbs is derived from the baptismal name, Theobald. * Most people acquire the name Tibbs with the 1970's movie, They Call Me Mister Tibbs, starring Sidney Poitier. * A lot of people name their animals Mr. Tibbs. Here are a few other Tibbs out there:Above: Andrew, Matt & Beth... I am very fortunate to have such great family members! Above: Matt... the husband. Pretty crazy guy, huh? Above: Beth & Matt... being silly. Love that.

My obsession with food.

It's true... I find that I have a deep appreciation for food, beyond necessity or nourishment... but for the taste and texture. Which is why I have to share my love for Trader Joe's Cottage Cheese! It's truly the best cottage cheese I have ever consumed.

Mom & Dad's Birthday

It's really convenient that both Mom & Dad have their birthdays in April... within a week from each other. Julie and I always cheat and celebrate together. This year we took everyone out to dinner and enjoyed our meal together at a new restaurant in the area.

It's about time...

...that I post something on this darn blog! It's been nearly a month and I haven't been too great about keeping things current. Matt & I have been super busy with life and such. It seems like when it rains, it pours. In spite of the drama in life, here is some good stuff to share: Baby Tibbs is growing... and my belly is starting to feel a tidge heavier than comfortable. Here's the latest pic (I'm at 27 weeks): I feel like I look like a heifer. As long as our baby boy is healthy, it's worth it, right?
  • He's kicking and punching and giving my bladder the 'people's elbow' on a consistent basis now. It's so weird when you can see him move from the outside... Matt said it's alien-like.
  • We're still thinking of names... and I think we've settled on a few options. So much pressure. It's not like we're having a puppy.
  • I've officially grown out of one pair of my maternity pants (my favorite ones!). The belt-line is too tight and SO uncomfortable.
  • My affection for sweets has not ceased from rearing it's ugly head.
  • I'm really paranoid about sleeping on my back (due to proper blood flow), and every time I wake up on my back I freak out!
  • Every week that goes by, I grow increasingly more attached to our baby. I am very eager to meet our little boy.
Here's a pic from last week (26 weeks): I can't tell much of a difference in size, but maybe you can. Some mornings I wake up and notice significant growth.
